Several suggestions come to mind for online voyage planning:

I love this online map program for voyage planning: http://wikimapia.org/
Click on the "ruler" and plot away - leg distances and cumulative distances
are easy to see.

Great circle planning takes a bit more planning with multiple waypoints,
course bearings etc... I suggest using a days run distance as your waypoint
distance - makes your noon's position time also your change course time each
day while achieving good overall GC routing.
