Stopped by the boat launch in West Haven today. There were 1,500 + GREATER SCAUP and at least one LESSER SCAUP, along with a bunch of American Wigeon and at least one Gadwall and ~300 Brant out in New Haven Harbor.
Then went to Hammo, where we got the distant look at the Snowy Owl.
Next stop was the East River Boat Launch in Guilford, where Janet Mehmel had teed up a dark morph ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK...great looks. Also heard an AMERICAN PIPIT.
Glad to see someone got Bonaparte's Gulls. Hopefully Nick will submit his Thayer's Gulls, which will make for 10 species of gull over the weekend!!!
Patrick Comins, Meriden.
It's probably worth noting, since they've been absent so far this winter,
that we're now entering a time when a few Redheads often show up in these
big scaup rafts. The next Tufted Duck to show up in CT will probably be in
that kind of a setting as well.

Should read my e-mails before I send any out. I see Dennis V found a Redhead
and Charlie B. mentioned one of the past Conn Tufted Ducks.
