Visitors:
A few folks out today to help with the count... thanks to Tom B, Chris B,
Ken W, Ronnie G and Richard S for helping get the count done today.
Weather:
A pretty decent day weather wise but unfortunately the winds switched from
N to W and finally SW quite quickly by midday and pushed the flight inland
away from the hawk watch. Temps were from 2C to 9C and the pressure was on
the rise. Skies went from completely clear to almost completely clouded
over and then back to mostly open again.
Raptor Observations:
Given the flight was cut a bit short midday the tally of 1,586 birds was
impressive with a great flight of Redtails (914) and Red-shoulders (323).
The highlights today were another good push of Golden Eagles (17) which is
our highest 1-day count so far this season and a couple more Rough-legged
Hawks. There were a smattering of the other species as well.
Non-raptor Observations:
Some good non-raptors on the move again today with a report of another
Short-eared Owl (photographed) and Rusty Blackbirds (also photographed),
For a complete list see Chris B's eBird checklist at:

AND on the MONARCH front ... they reported a single Monarch passing the
hawk watch today which has to be one of the latest sightings we've had of
one there.
