Yes, I received that notice yesterday (Panasonic LC-R061R3P)
https://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/panasonic-bsg/LC-R061R3P/P128-ND/6671
Panasonic is discontinuing many of their “LC” rechargable (sealed lead-acid) batteries. Panasonic battery orders are accepted by Digi-Key until September 30.

Digi-Key has a recommended substitution from BB Battery (6V 1.3Ah), BP1-2-6-T1.

ESE used this 6 V SLA battery in many of its master clock designs.
This battery form factor is used in a number of electronic appliances, so other battery manufacturers are available.
A DIY alternative would use a 4-cell Cylindrical Battery Holder, such as those available from Keystone Electronics in New Hyde Park, NY (or Eastern Asia mfg.).
The 6 Volt, 1.3Ah specification could be met with “C” cells wired in series.

Subject: [time-nuts] Battery for ESE 911 GPS Receiver/Clock
For those of us with an ESE 911 GPS receiver / master clock, Digi-Key has announced the end of availability / end of life for the
internal SLA backup battery.
For a DIY Solution, the battery cells need to be Rechargable. Battery chemistry and charging voltage/current present is a different discussion/decision.
4 battery cells would be wired in SERIES.
Voltage = 4 times voltage of single cell (1.5V) = 4 x 1.5 V = 6 Volts
Current = current (mA/hour or A/hour) of single cell.

Serial and Parallel Battery Configurations

Since Rechargable Batteries have LESS mAh capacity than Alkaline or other throw-away batteries, Four (4) “AA” cells in series could be disappointing, while four (4)” C” cells in series would offer better capacity.
