Ceramics Faculty Position in our Evening & Weekend Curriculum

Adjunct Faculty position, part time for the 2011-12 academic year

The Evergreen State College seeks applicants for an adjunct faculty position in ceramics teaching one 4-credit course per quarter of the 2011-12 academic year. The position is 25% of full time. Courses for these positions will be scheduled either during evening hours or on Saturdays.

Minimum Qualifications:

BFA degree or equivalent experience in ceramics.
Expertise in wheel throwing and hand-building techniques.
Knowledge of clay bodies, glazes, and firing techniques.
Previous teaching experience, and willingness to use exploratory, cooperative approaches to teaching and learning.
Experience working with diverse groups of students.
Multicultural teaching experience both in terms of dealing with diverse groups of students and exploring diverse perspectives about art in different cultures and subcultures.

Preferred Qualifications:

MFA degree.
Previous college-level teaching experience.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with staff and students.
Experience teaching collaboratively in an interdisciplinary setting.
