Hi Dale

I love your idea for the tee; brilliant!

But your other comment bums me out, as it does seem to make sense, although
I sometimes think things are "over-thought" at times, but it does make  sense.

I could pull the tank and have them add another vent, but not  without
considerable hassle...

Geez, nothing is ever easy, but trouble!

John;
I hope this isn't another witless suggestion after all the work and
thought you've devoted to this solution. But, if whatever vent you
end up with isn't effective enough and you're getting too much of the
rotten gas drifting around, you could install a Groco Sweettank. It's
basically an aquarium air pump that bubbles air through the stuff in
the tank, eliminating the anaerobic bacteria which cause the foul
odors. It comes with everything you need to install it except for a
hole saw, and is available in 12V and 120V models. Apart from the
wiring, installation took me about ten minutes. Goes into either the
top or the side of the tank. And it works.
No connection, etc.

More on "over-thought"--here's my take:

It's a "poo tank"!  It's not supposed to smell pretty inside. If it's sealed
and has one good vent to prevent blowing the hoses off when the tank is
being filled, or sucking the walls in when it is being emptied, that's all I
need to be happy.  I did go 3/4" on my vent line.  I haven't cleaned my tank
in 15 years, many of which were live-aboard. All I do is add a cup of
vinegar every Sunday to both heads.

                                      Regards....

Hi

Could you supply more info on the Groco Sweettank system. How
big an air pump? does it run continuously, what size hose etc. I
presume it goes to the bottom of the tank to bubble it.
