BEST WISHES FOR A SAFE AND SUCCESSFUL EVENT...
... to all Gators who will be rocking, rolling, riding, or running this
weekend!
This holiday weekend the racing is a bit light and we will NOT have a
Sunday swim workout due to the Spring Valley YMCA being closed for Easter,
but we do have a sponsor event taking place on Saturday that will feature
five Gators and an iconic running event taking place on Patriots' Day,
Monday!
And congratulations to Sarah Barkley who on Wednesday completed the virtual
version of the runDisney Springtime Surprise "Twilight Zone Tower of Terror
10-miler"! Sarah joins Lindsay Inger who completed the event at Disney
earlier this month.
Antique Bikes! Also, if you are looking for something interesting
cycling-related to do and/or if you happen to be on the SRT in the Valley
Forge area on Saturday afternoon, one of our newest members, Warren Anders
(John Henry on Facebook), is a member of the Wheelmen, an antique bicycle
club, and the club will be meeting at the Betzwood Park (just off of the
SRT) at Noon on Saturday. The group promotes bicycles such as the unique
"high wheeler" / Penny Farthing. If you'd like to learn about these bikes
and see them ride on the SRT, stop by.
Weekend Workouts: There are no planned club workouts this weekend, so no
excuses for not cutting your grass and doing some other spring cleaning
and/or holiday celebrating!
Weekend Events: We have 6 Gators in action in 2 events including a club
sponsor event...
Saturday, April 16:
• SPONSOR EVENT: Steelman Racing's "Rock the Nock" (Lake Nockamixon,
Quakertown, PA): Steelman Racing kicks off their 6 event 2022 calendar with
this running event at one of our favorite race locations! The event
includes 5K, 10K, and half marathon options. The following Gators will be
participating... 10K runners include Kristie Bruno and Christa Kachline
(first event as a Gator!) and half marathon runners include Michael Metry,
Shawn O'Malley, and Deb Rocco! Go Kristie, Christa, Mike, Shawn, and Deb!
Monday, April 18:
• Boston Marathon (Boston, MA): Don Mack will be taking the morning 45
minute bus ride to Hopkinton and then enjoying the 3.5-4 hour 26.2 mile run
back to where he started!
Have a great weekend, have fun, Happy Easter, and Gator Done! 🐊🐰
