Joe, what is an HTC Touch and who is offering a $30 data plan? Have you
cruised long distances with this data plan with good results?
Thanks

I have Verizon, have used it over a fairly wide range of the Chesapeake and
Chesapeake's eastern shore waters, from Tangier Island to north of the
Patapsco River (spotty coverage in Tangier area).  Unlimited data is $30/mo,
or $45/mo if you want to sync with your corporate network.

It's actually only $10 now at Verizon, looks like it's being discontinued.
(Verizon rebrands it with their own name, but it's equivalent):

A newer version, the "Ozone", is $50 and has a hard keyboard:

Other carriers have similar.  If you consider a Verizon device, make sure
you ask about GPS availability in the device.  Verizon has been known to
disable it, forcing you to buy a bluetooth GPS or use their
over-the-air-at-a-cost service.  They are reportedly going to stop doing
that, though.
