I plan to replace my teak bow sprit with one of SS.
I want to house two anchors there. If anyone has done that please email me
a sketch.
If you have one already send me a sketch
Thanks

I did something similar, except I didn't replace the anchor platform, but
reinforced it.  What started out planning to reinforce a pretty flimsy teak
anchor platform with SS bracing wound up instead fabricating a piece
constructed of SS which has the dimensions of the original, left in place.
The new SS unit lays down on top of the existing teak and has edges which
turn down 90 degrees around the sides of the existing platform, producing a
very strong beam-like result.  The various holes for bolting equipment in
place were reproduced in the SS piece and everything bolted back down.
This particular one has a new anchor roller as part of the new fabrication,
a single one.  It could just as easily incorporate two in the design.
Being careful to get the template right resulted in a simple drop-in
installation.  It was not particularly cheap but a very neat, fairly easy
way to go.

It was fabricated by Embree Welding in St. Pete.  (Not the same as Embree
Marine here.)

Ted,

We changed the anchoring platform as well as the bow pulpit platform to
accommodate two anchors, an additional above decks chain locker and a
Maxwell vertical windlass.  You can see some of the details at
http://www.mv-dreamer.com/anchor_platform_details.htm  I am having a little
difficulty in loading a couple pohotos referred to and will continue trying
until successful.  In the meantime, you can get a good idea of how it turned
out. The basic platform is of 3/8" SS plate with 1/4" angle for
reinforcement and the anchor wells of 1/4" SS with 1/2" SS rod around the
lip.  It includes anchor chain stops and tensioners as well as methods of
securing the anchors.  We are very pleased with it.

Good luck,

Bob Lowe
