The concept is great, but at a delivered price approaching well over US$100
a pair, it's an expensive convenience.
I'm going to produce two with almost the same functionality for about $5.
All it will take is some threaded brass rod, 12 brass wing nuts, epoxy or
brazing, a hacksaw and a file. (I have a tap & die set if I have to thread
the rod.)
My Jabsco faceplates have 6 screws, not 4 as shown on the small pumps in the
illustration. So, the clever idea of slots rather than holes wouldn't work.
Perhaps the UK model appears to be so much thicker than the original because
the extra stiffness and rubber seal permit using only 4 of the original
holes.
