I have just joined the trawler list and want to say hello to all.
The Han family has been trawlering for 6 years or so on a 34'
Californian "Rent Due" - semi displacement, twin Turbo 200HP Perkins (
no the parts have not been hard to get).
Our cruising has been in Florida and the Bahamas. We usually take 3-4
weeks trips and have been to the Abacos, Eleuthera, Exumas and Cuba.
Our family is composed of 1 captain ( me ), one Admiral ( Susan ) and
two boys who are rapidly approaching maturity. It has been great to
have such a talented crew who make cruising very easy. We also
chartered a Nordic tug in the San Juans for a week.
We plan to upgrade our yacht soon to something larger. I will certainly
be asking opinions of the TWL in the future. We are looking at something
like a Krogen 42, Selene 43 for 6 month live aboard for the Great Loop
and Down Island cruising with maybe a trip to the Med.
I have been trained as a physical oceanographer and may be able to
contribute some answers to oceanic questions.
