Paul et al,

In many Native American cultures, beliefs, there is no word for "nature", as it is a
concept that is so interwoven in our lives, as a source that gives life and sustenance.
It is a Euro-centric concept that Nature is a separate entity that needs to be
"conquered" and "mastered".  That's where the human species went astray!

As an added thought to mans view of nature, I have attached this poignant talk given by an indian in Russia in 1990..............

From book "Wisdomkeepers" -

Audrey Shenandoah - Onondaga clan mother - speech to leaders in Russia: 1990

Excerpt: " There is no word for "nature" in my language. Nature, in English, seems to refer to that which is separate from human beings. It is a distinction we don't recognize........It is foolish arrogance for humans to think themselves superior to all the life-support system. How can one be superior to that upon which one depends for life?"...............Western society needs to prioritize life-support systems and to question its commitment to materialism. Spirituality should be our foundation..."

Great wisdom we should all follow, yes?
