Elimination of a position

Listmates I have a question on an agenda item.  If the board wants to
discuss elimination of a position (which would include elimination of an
existing employee), does the agenda item need to include discussion and
possible action on the employee? or can it just be discussion and action on
the position?  Also - if the latter, would the discussion and action on a
position qualify for executive session under a personnel issue?
