From Keith Mueller with Tom Sara Tina Kathy and Mark:
12/21/13 - Guilford, LI Sound, Faulkner's Island -- 75 Common Eider,
50 Purple Sandpiper.

From Dan and Karen Mercurio:
12/21/13 - Wallingford, Stop & Shop -- the Iceland Gull carries on.
Milford, Merwin Point -- The Harlequin Duck was kind enough to parade
right past us and preen on the beach.

From Russ Smiley:
12/21/13 - Stonington, Barn Island -- Black-headed Gull continues.

From Allan Welby:
12/21/13 - East Haven, end of Brazos Road -- 9:30 AM; Great looks at
Barrows Goldeneye in calm water; looking straight out into the sound,
it was to the left.  Also, 22 very tame Purple Sandpipers.

From Dan Rottino and John Marshall:
12/21/13 - Stratford, Warehouse Pond -- 11:15 AM; 1 ORANGE-CROWNED
WARBLER flew into a bush alongside the pond.  1 WINTER WREN.

From Allan Welby:
12/21/13 - Milford, Anchor Beach -- noon; Female Harlequin Duck
continues, hanging out around flagpole.

From Beverly Propen:
12/21/13 - Stratford, Long Beach -- 9:30 to 10:40 AM; 2 Snowy Owls.
First one seen far out, past cedar trees, near osprey platform, flying
through the salt marsh, then landing in a dead tree.  It flew when a
hunter in a boat came by and landed closer to the parking lot. Many
birders there getting nice looks. Lots of gun shots throughout marsh.
Second  one was seen as I was leaving Long Beach, just sitting on a
wood pole just before the houses.

From Sophie Zyla:
12/21/13 - Stratford, Long Beach -- One Snowy Owl on the fence post
near the water of the first house as you pull into Long Beach and
another in a tree 1 mile or so, not far from the osprey platforms.

From Tim Wininger:
12/21/13 - Waterford, Harkness Memorial Park -- around 10 AM;
Grasshopper Sparrow I think.

From Dan Rottino:
12/21/13 - Madison, Hammonasset State Park -- 2:45 PM; 1 SHORT-EARED
OWL viewed from the Cedar Island platform, 1 LAPLAND LONGSPUR (with 40
Horned Lark), 2 PURPLE SANDPIPER.  Add to this list a Rough-legged
Hawk north across the river as viewed from the north end of Willard's
Island.

From Carolyn Cimino:
12/21/13 - Lyme, Elys Ferry Rd -- afternoon; 1 ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK
(light morph).

From Florence McBride:
12/21/13 - New Haven, Long Wharf, very close to the Korean War and
Vietnam memorial monuments -- Snowy Owl, with plumage that looks like
that of either an adult female or immature male.  The bird was first
located by Arne Rosengren at 11:15 am, re-located at about 1:40 by
Florence and Michael McBride and Nancy Rosenbaum, and then again by
Arne around 2:20 pm.  Arne comments: This bird looked much smaller
than the one in similar plumage (and at the same distance) that he saw
at Long Beach Nov. 30, so he thinks it's likely to be an immature
male.

From Robert Dixon:
12/21/13 - Sterling yard -- YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER, WINTER WREN.

From Steve Kotchko:
12/21/13 - Madison, Hammonasset State Park -- afternoon; ROUGH-LEGGED
HAWK hovering over the water across from the bird viewing platform out
on Willard's Island.  Also 2 SNOW BUNTINGS in field across from Nature
Center.

From Donna Caporaso:
12/21/13 - Stratford, Behind Buckley Building -- 1 Fox Sparrow (there
have been 3 previously but the one with no tail feathers is the only
one seen today).
Long Beach -- 10:00 AM; 2 Snowy Owls (retrieved a pellet).
Airport -- 1:30 PM; 1 Dark Morph Rough Leg Hawk seen in trees near
runway.

From Alex Burdo and Jim Orrico:
12/21/13 - Fairfield, Upper Ash Creek (as viewed from the Jewish Home
for the Elderly) -- 2 male EURASIAN WIGEON; fantastic numbers of the
commoner waterfowl species.
Stratford, Sikorsky Airport -- 1 light morph ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK.
Stratford, Short Beach Road -- PEREGRINE FALCON.
Stratford, Birdseye Boat Ramp -- 1 Great Cormorant.
East Haven, Brazos Road -- 1 BARROW'S GOLDENEYE continues.

From Paul Desjardins:
12/21/13 - Madison, Hammonasset State Park -- morning; Eastern
Meadowlark seen flying west just after leaving Meig's Point section.
Also a Purple Sandpiper at Meig's Point and Lapland Longspur in field
near nature center.

From Robert Marra:
12/20/13 - West Haven, sandy Point -- Snowy Owl at dawn, far out on
the point.

From Keith Mueller with Tom Sara Tina Kathy and Mark: 12/21/13 - Guilford, LI Sound, Faulkner's Island -- 75 Common Eider, 50 Purple Sandpiper.
