Does anyone have experience with this group of engines, especially regarding
warranty claims? Are there other four stroke manufactures which have a
better record? Any experience with Yamaha and their warranty?
Hi Marty,
I had a Yamaha 4 stroke electric start 9.9hp long shaft high thrust outboard
on my sailboat back in the late 80s. It was an exceptional engine. I don't
see what you are worrying about warranty work on this engine. You won't need
any. Mine ran for 5 years without a single glitch. When I sold it, it looked
brand new and ran the same.
Yamahas are jewels of engines. I don't feel the warranty questions are valid.
You will love this engine and will miss it when you sell it. I can't image a
Yamaha having warranty problems. I can image them being astonished by a
warranty claim.
