I will be replacing my two 8D batteries with four 6 volt batteries this Spring.
Sam's Club has the Energizer 6 volt golf cart batteries for
$72.00/each. Other 6 volt batteries I have checked on are as follows:
Trojan - $145.84/ea, Deka - 139.00/ea, and Interstate - 114.95/ea.
My inclination is to go with the Energizer batteries, however, I am
not sure which is the better long term value. Which of these is the
best value based on previous expierence with either of these brands?
Thanks, Barry Yano
I can only say that I have had 6 of the Sam's batteries in my boat for about 3
years and they're doing fine.

Barry,
check the date of manufacturer on the batteries.
Call energizer and with the battery model #. confirm that they are
constructed like you expect them to be.
Depending on if you can get to a boat show, two Rolls 12 VDC battery,
made up of 6 2 vdc cells, may end up being the better value...

I have a few questions for Tim
Your Sams batts are 2 years old. How many times have they been cycled? How
many days have you been away from a dock in that 2 year period?

I came across this piece on the BBC website. it's a bit ironic that the
USA has scrapped the Loran system and and now our Royal Academy of
Engineers is recommending that eLoran should be used as a back up for
land based systems.

Cannot speak to the others, but I have 9 years on my Trojan T-105's, and
still going (knock wood).

Again I ask the questions.
How many cycles?
How many days away from the dock?
I recommend and use Trojans batteies. Weather T-105s or L-16hs. 1000 cycles
is about what they are rated for. So out cruising that's 3 years on our boat
