Artists wanted to design Pierce County Election Center mural

Pierce County is looking for artists to design a large-scale mural to welcome people to the county Election Center. As part of the County's 1% for Arts Programhttps://s2.bl-1.com/h/dxsRCyJS?url=https://www.piercecountywa.gov/466/1-for-the-Arts-Program, the new mural will stretch across four exterior walls, about 2,200 sq. ft.

The mural will invite visitors to engage in the electoral process. The design should highlight Pierce County's unique natural environment, iconic landmarks, or an abstract representation of these elements. It will be a prominent feature of the Election Center, 2501 S. 35th St., in Tacoma. The project budget is up to $60,000. Up to four artists or artist teams will be chosen to create site specific mural designs for the Election Center and will receive $1,000 for their work.

To apply, artists working individually or as a team can submit a professional portfolio and qualifications to the Pierce County Arts Commission. Artists applying as a team must designate a primary contact person and submit a joint portfolio showcasing their collective talent. All applicants must be eligible to work in the United States and be 18 years or older.

The submission deadline for proposals is Feb. 3, 2025, at 4 p.m.

An informational webinar about the project will be hosted Dec. 16 at 11 a.m. To review the full submission requirements or webinar details, visit the Election Center Mural Project websitehttps://s2.bl-1.com/h/dxsRC3jV?url=http://www.PierceCountyWA.gov/ElectionsMural.
