Interesting how the big leap in nyjer prices coincided with the siskin irruption.
Should have bought some stock in it!

Someone asked about siskins and when they will leave.

I have had 10-25 birds every day since Jan. 9th

I will post when they are gone, or I can't afford any more seed, to bad eruptions and a strong economy aren't correlated.

Boy, isn't that the truth!  Here is what we have been told by our wholesale distributors.  I have no idea how much is really true but I do know that our distributors are not making any money on it as most are now completely out of nyjer and have no real estimate of delivery time.

Jim

-problem started in Aug 08, high prices low demand led to
slow down leaving huge inventories

-importers stopped buying because of the large inventory

-in late 08 importers heard that the new crop prices would
be low so decided to wait till they needed it before they ordered

-incredible snow/ice/cold increased demand (double for this
time of year) (pine siskins in record numbers everywhere)

-huge inventory is gone

-transaction time from purchase (from India) to receipt by
distributors in the US is 90 days!!!

-relief is coming but not until April/early May
