Does anyone have any leads on old fashion gangways (accommodation
ladders) and or their hardware. There is a company that makes them out in
CA, but they are frightfully expensive.  In my sail days, we had one on
our 1933 English Pilot ketch, it was a joy to use.  My Dad is getting a
little frail and it would sure make it more comfortable
getting him on board.

Thanks,
Frank

I have two 19k btu AC units on board and want to add a third.

The first two are 120 vac units.

To keep the load balanced, we are considering adding the 3rd as a 240 vac
unit.

But, this would mean if we stopped where there was no 50 amp service, the
state rooms would not be air conditioned, unless we ran the Gen Set.

When cursing the Bahamas, the Caribbean, the FL Keys, the ICW and the Great
Loop... will we run into many Mariana's that can't supply us with full 50
amp 240 vac service?

Thanks for any comments,

Hi Frank,

Check out  http://www.drsfostersmith.com/  Call and ask them to send a
catalog. The ramp is pictured in the catalog but not on their website. It's
a folding ramp designed for dogs. Weighs 20 lbs and folds to 36"x18".
Extends to 6' and supports 500 lbs of dog or dad. $129.99 plus shipping.
Made for getting older dogs into and out of vehicles. Non skid surface.  No
reason it wouldn't work for boats. No connection etc.

Frank,
I did the same research yrs ago and then designed and built my own.
It works opposite of the commercial ones.
My situation required the plank be attached to the dock with the casters on
the boat.. I can send the diagram to you , or anyone else. I fabricated the
hinge with alum plate , the deck is wood and is painted in non skid. It is
deployed in seconds. Of course you can use it only at your home dock but I have
another , without the hinge that I carry in the lazarette for other docks.
