Guilty,
Let me summarize my comments to Garrett.  I pointed out that one of the
TWL members (Tom Eagan) did have these 8.2 L DD and found a recent AOL
address for Tom on Boatdiesel.com, where there is a thread on the 8.2 L DD
engines. Suggest that anyone who has questions about marine engines join
this group (used to be free--now it costs--the new trend of the net!)

The Canoe Cove is an excellent boat--made by a company with a good track

record and currently still producing boats in North America!  (sort of a
rarity these days)

I pointed out that Volvo, and turbo charged engines are not my

favorites, but I found a boat I liked at a good price, so I said OK these
may not be my first choice--but this most likely will do even if it is not
my first choice of an engine.  I am not going to Panama, I will have back up
propulsion--in Garrett's case he has two engines.  Even if one fails it is
extremely unlikely that the second will (since he keeps his fuel clean,
impellers fresh etc) and the worst case is that he can still continue his
cruise to Alaska at 8 knots instead of 18 knots (and burn less fuel).

I also pointed out that yesterday was the 2 year anniverary of a post

that lamented his trials in looking at boats--and if I recollect the first
boat he "lusted for" was a Canoe Cove.  So this boat is his choice--the
engines may or may not be ideal, but the chances are that (passing survey)
since they have only moderate hours, they will serve him well for some time.

Regards to all
