Yes, this is the correct way to share a pump on A/C's. I am right smack in
the middle of replacing / adding 2-16K Crusair units in "Friendship". The
correct sizing is 250 gal / hour for every 12,000 BTU of air. Oversizing
doesn't seem to hurt, but undersizing will diminish the effeciency of the
units. I'm using a 1000 gal pump on these two units, plumbed in parallel.
They even make a "special" Y for this purpose to make sure each unit gets
the right amount of water. I'm not sure it is necessary as the Y is about
$30, but in the overall scheme of things, I went ahead & used one.

Al: Are you also paralleling the discharges???

I am installing 2 16k BTU's and 2 8k BTU's. on Tamara B.

I want to use 2 pumps for the 4 units, 1 16k and 1 8k per pump. Each
pump should be sized at about 500gal/hr, and have their own sea
strainer. Any recomendations on make/model of such a pump?

Bob

No Bob...........they dump into a chest with all the other bilge pump
discharges and then go overboard through an 1 1/2" discharge hose at the
stern of the boat
