The threat of storms and initial lack of wind had everyone fearful that this last Wednesday race would be like so many others this season (i.e. abandoned). Luckily that was NOT the case.

We had 11 boats racing, with PHRFs ranging from 255 to 105. 5 Spinnaker Division and 6 Non-Spinnaker. Just before the 18:30:00 warning signal, the wind was so light that earlier in the season we would have postponed the start. The RC was positioned by Race Mark D, and set course 12X (to Race Mark C and back for all divisions). The wind picked up a bit as racers did their staggered starts from 18:35 to 18:55. One early starter snagged the starting/finish pin on its rudder, which caused a bit of confusion. As the first boats reached Mark C the wind picked up to well over 10 kts, and shifted so that we had a proper upwind leg from Mark C back to the finish. The RC did not reset the injured pin, so all boats crossed a "virtual" finish line, running about 50 yards to the east (course side) of the committee boat -- all finishers received the customary "toot" upon crossing the line. By the finish the sailing weather was perfect, and several boats cruised a bit for returning for the usual banter and beer on the patio.

The Pursuit Race does NOT count for any 2019 Cruising Fleet Series. Below you'll find results for last night's race, and combined results for the 2019 Pursuit Series, combining results from the season's two Pursuit Races. (Notes on the 2-race series scoring at the very end.)

Notes on Series Scoring:

• DNF or DNC = Starters + 1
• Calculated separate scores for each division, based on the actual number of boats racing in that division. So the "divisions" scored for each race and for the series are: 1) All Boats, 2) Spinnaker, 3) Non-Spinnaker, 4) Cruising Fleet Non-Spinnaker, and 5) Open Fleet. Boats assigned to division based on their Wednesday Night series assignments.
• Divisional results vary from the ranking under All Boats because scores change with smaller number of competitors considered (especially DNF and DNC).
• Boats' series scores in parentheses.
• Series ties decided based on the order of finish in the final race.
