I have the ICOM 802 with automatic antenna tuner. You can  obtain the ICOM

UN-LOCK

code from the Dockside Radio Website. www.docksideradio.com
This unlock code no enables you to hand dial any frequency you want either

commercial or Ham. I do not see the need to buy different radios when you have
the un-lock code

that is not published by ICOM. They like to sell radios I am sure to both

markets.

When I purchased my Icom 802, I called their support group and was emailed the
unlock code.  I would guess that they don't publish it in the manual to keep
those that are purchasing a SSB only from messing with the settings and then
calling support when the radio doesn't work automatically.
