*A Friendly Reminder - You are Invited!* Metropolitan Veterinary Hospital in downtown Tacoma is pleased to be featuring Nori Retherford, digital painter and Gary Johnson, ceramicist. In celebration, we are hosting an *Artist Reception - **Wednesday, July 20th from 5pm to 7pm* with small bites and wine. All ages are welcome. *ABOUT Nori: * Nori is a long-time resident of Tacoma, where she attended Stadium HS and TCC, before earning her BFA at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Digital painting became her first love when, at ten years old, she began using a computer graphics tablet. At school, she developed a fondness for more traditional mediums like reed pen, silverpoint, watercolor and acrylic. But nothing tops the thrill of bringing these drawings to life, and Nori soon discovered that animation was the ideal medium with which to explore her animal and fantasy subject matter. In her spare time she studies 3D animation, creature design and biology. *ABOUT Gary: * Gary Johnson considers himself an 'applied artist', but sometimes takes side trips into what he calls 'real art'. After purchasing a kiln to make tiles to re-do the fireplace in his historic home, Gary was intrigued by the properties of clay. Vessels made from clay have been around since the ancients, so to replicate the spirit each bowl has been hand built with a variety of techniques.
