Regardless of how you feel about the 2nd Amendment and issues associated with gun violence and gun safety, a case decided today by the 2nd Circuit reaffirms a basic premise of statutory law - an act by the same legislative body cannot foreclose future acts by that body amending the earlier act. So, in Everytown vs. ATF, the 2nd circuit said: "A prior statute, however, cannot prevent a later-enacted statute from having effect." In doing so, it reversed the lower court decision to the contrary.
