Would anyone recommend good (read cost effectvie) Diesel fueling spots along
GICWW between Naples and Mobile?  We'll be heading out of Naples on the 30th
headed to Mobile Bay and would appreciate recommendations/updates on diesel
costs.

Ballard Fuel in Ft. Myers beach is the cheapest you will find. They are not
open on the weekends and only take check or cash. No plastic.

At Destin , Fl , just into the harbor The Fishermans coop sells diesel at
the best price in the area .It was $2.02/gal plus tax (6%) about three weeks
ago . The docks are just past the first fuel stop in the harbor and there is
no sign , the pumps and a small hut with green roof are the keys . Jim T
sends .

Bill & Mary Anne:

In addition to Ballard's and the Fisherman's Coop mentioned, you
might check with Burnt Store Marina (Charlotte Harbor, 941-637-0083)
and Clearwater City Marina (727-462-6954).  They were at $1.93 and
$1.95 (less $.10 for BoatUS) 10 days ago (when Ballard' was $1.90).

Check www.cruisersnet.net or www.gascaptain.com for recent fuel
prices and phone the low ones to get the latest data. Remember to ask
about discounts for cash, BoatUS, volume, etc.

If I'm not mistaken, BSM is quite a way out of the way if you're traveling
north on the ICW? Last Spring when I traveled this route, the cheapeast I
found on the Fla west coast ICW without going out of the way was the Marine
Max Marina (I think that actually was the name) just on the south edge of
Venus. It's a couple of miles south of Venus proper, on the west side. I
filled there both directions going to the Keys and back. After the crossing,
I found fuel at the little marina in Carrabelle to be the cheapest place in
that area. Don't remember the name, but it's the smaller of the two marinas
on the right going into Carrabelle. The first one you come to. By the way,
they had cheap slips, and were a joy to stay with!

We live on the West Coast of Fl and traveled to Tampa Bay recently.  The
best fuel prices we found were Ballard Oil at Ft. Myers Beach and Clearwater
Beach Municipal Marina (Clearwater gives a $.10 Boat US discount).  Burnt
Store usually has good prices as well but it is 9-10 miles from the ICW.
Also, Marine Max is usually fairly cheap and it is located near Venice.

Yes, Brent, you are correct. Burnt Store Marina (where I keep my boat)?is 12-13 miles across Charlotte Harbor from the ICW.?The price?I quoted is tax inclusive. Depending on the amount of fuel purchased it can be a good alternative. Need to make sure the marinas quote their prices 'with tax' to compare apples to apples.

(no connection to the marina other then I keep my boat there)
