I have an old zodiac cadet that started to leak water in to the floor from the
bottom seams somewhere. The air chambers are ok and hold their pressure. What
is the best way to reseal the bottom? Any advice appreciated.

Bob,

You may wish to contact Zodiac USA about your problem. How old is your Cadet? I have a 6 year old AX 3001 series RIB with the same problem. My hand glued an area and another area let go. It went all the way around the boat. Everything but the tubes let loose. I called Zodiac and they are putting up "some" warrenty money to have it fixed. Problem is nearest repair area is 250 miles away. I think this is a problem with a number of the boats built in France a few years ago. Tubes will stay OK because they are "welded".

I was visiting my buddy Capt Kirk down in Bocas in Panama this last winter.
He had a zodiac about 2000 vintage. It didn't get used in its first years.
But in the last two, after getting down to where he needs it every day. It
has come completly un glued.  WHat a piece of crap.  We were using 5200 with
some sucess. It had been doing this for the last year. Well its out of
warrenty, he is so far from anyone who would care or could fix it.  West
Marine sold it to him.  So Zodiac is out of the running for me.  He is out
over $2500 and gotten very little use out of it.  But the Boston Whaler is
sure filling in. But a rough ride.

I have a 4 year old Zodiac,a Cadet 285s model and have had my floor
delaminate from the air tubes also. This is my second Zodiac with the same
problem. I've used the patches in the repair kit with 5200 and this seem s
to be holding for two months now but they sure have a defective product.
While in the Abacos this spring I meet several other owners who encountered
the same problems. You'd think Zodiac ,to protect their image would issue a
recall and save face, but they refuse to help the owners out of warranty.

I THINK the zodiacs are made from PVC, which you should stay away from.
Stick with Hypalon dinks for inflatables.
