"Arts in the Park"
Saturday, September 3rd 10am-2pm
where: Pioneer Park and the plaza at City Hall
Valley Arts United presents the second annual "Arts in the Park" in
cooperation with the Puyallup Farmer's Market, Arts Downtown, Gallery 3,
and the Tacoma Art Museum. On Rotary Stage, the Tacoma Art Museum
invites all ages to add scenes from their daily life to a large scale
(13'x4') folk art triptych. All supplies are provided, and artist
assistants will be on hand to help out. The panels will be prepainted
with Northwest scenery and iconic images of Puyallup by the graphic
design team at TAM. The triptych will eventually be displayed around the
City of Puyallup following the fall Folk Art exhibit at Tacoma Art
Museum. Children's coloring pages based on animal art from the TAM
collection and crayons will be handed out from the stage. In the park,
artists from Gallery 3 will be painting colorful new works. The City
Hall open air plaza will host four Arts Downtown artists (Kris Vermeer,
Kevin Petelle, Sabah al-Daher, and Dan Klennart) who will demonstrate
their sculpture and painting techniques, and some works will be
available for purchase. An African Drumming circle for up to 50
participants will be set up in the City Hall plaza. All activities are
free of charge and open to the public. Proudly sponsored by Cambell,
Dille, Barnett & Smith, PLLC.
