I am getting some replies to my query about light-weight RHIBS.  One led me
to the Avon website.  Their 3.10 model looks suspiciously like the West
marine 310 in both appearance and specifications.

I am guessing they are one and the same.

Yes, Rich, I think you're right. Avon makes two model 310's, one lighter
weight, single floor, and the other is a little heavier, double floor, with
a bow locker. I have this one (have had for 5 years) and am very pleased.
It stays on top of my sundeck with a sumbrella cover, in a covered shed, but
it looks like new so far, except for a few places where I've abused it. The
first couple of years I used it with a Yamaha 15hp, 2 stroke and I was very
pleased with that setup, until my buddies all got 25's and started leaving
me in the dust. I now have a 25hp Merc, 2 stroke (bigger than it's rated
for) on it and it flies! Of course, it also has depth sounder, tachometer,
stereo, gps, & hard wired lights. With a big boat that does 8 knots, a guy's
got to get his thrills somewhere!
