SANDHILL CRANE probing on lawn of yard on Deming St (Route 30). It's a
bit north of I-84 and appears from the map that it could be in Vernon
or South Windsor.

12/06/13 - Somers -- The Barnacle Goose continues in the Corn field
located west/southwest of the intersection of Four Bridges Road and
Georgewood/Durkee Rd. It is among 300 or so Canadas.
NOTE: as per Greg Hanisek, "Barnacle Goose has been full accepted by
ARCC as a naturally occurring species in northeastern North America.
ARCC made this move a number of years ago based on research on the
increase and movements of Arctic-nesting geese, primarily from
Greenland to Connecticut specifically. Since then a Barnacle Goose
banded in Scotland has been documented in CT."

BARNACLE GOOSE continues (with 1000+ Canada Geese).

12/06/13 - Milford, Milford Point -- Snowy Owl on the Francis Street
spit, and the western extension of the spit; also know as the Piping
Plover sandbar, 11:45 AM-1:40 PM, mainly sitting on logs, flushed by a
fisherman around 1:40. Flew in front of Charles Island and landed on
Gulf Beach. Next seen on Charles Island, where it was probably
flushed by a sailboat around 2:10 PM. While on the Mlfd Pt spit it
sallied forth twice in the direction of a female RB Merganser but made
no attack.
