For those who can figure this kind of thing out.
How much horsepower does it take to accelerate a 4,500 ton ship from 0-30
kts in 70 seconds?
Also what kind of prop(s)? As it also can stop from 30 kts in 800 yards!!

Lets, see no AIS and a very small radar profile, painted in a non-reflective
color traveling at 30 kts. I think this would be on top of you before you
had a real chance to see it under anything less than ideal visibility and
calm sea state!!
What next?

Fascinating article. Highlights for me were:
"will now start taking on board Aster missiles, which are capable of
knocking down a cricket ball-sized object travelling at three times the
speed of sound."
I didn't know cricket balls were a threat.
"A warship that can defend the entire city of London from missile and
aircraft attack"
In an age of the more likely suicide bomber.
"She's a beautiful ship to drive, like a souped-up Bentley with very smooth
handling,"
Does this mean it has to go into the shop every two weeks?
"The ship left American visitors to the yard on the Clyde "shaken and
shocked", according to BAE Systems, its builders."
Are we afraid of attack by Great Britain? Are we having "destroyer-envy?"
"Crew comforts: First warship to include email facilities and iPod charging
points."
Praise the Lord!
