Our 18th Pierce County AIDS Walk steps out on Sat, Sept 12th on its downtown route.  Register online at www.piercecountyaids.org AND help us with this year's art project, Preservation:  Lives Not Lost sponsored in part by the Tacoma Arts Commission,

We're in need of small found objects that will be placed in test tubes by AIDS Walk participants, objects that will both memorialize those lost to HIV/AIDS and make a statement about the pandemic.  Following the Walk, the test tubes will be displayed in frames at PCAF and available for travel for outreach engagements.  We're looking for items that may represent a life or personality...almost anything and everything is acceptable (in any amounts):

Marbles (he rolled with the punches)
Tiny toys/vehicles/animals (for a child/playful person who drove/had a pet, etc.)
Small shells or beach glass (he loved the ocean)
Paper drink umbrellas (oh, she liked to party!)
Buttons (he did all he could to hold things together)
Small spools of thread & needles (an amazing seamstress)
Crayons (an artist extraordinaire!)
Nuts & Bolts (a woodworker or dealt with the details of life)
Birthday candles (celebrated every accomplishment)
Feathers (lighthearted in nature)
Bottle caps (favorite beverages)
Small pencils or pencil stubs (writer/poet)
Pieces of jewelry or charms (she loved to adorn herself)
Scrabble tiles (for initials of names)
Dice/Die (she liked to take risks)
Game pieces (he loved to play games)
Fortunes from fortune cookies (What's the future hold?)
Red satin ribbon (the iconic red AIDS ribbons)
Small plastic skulls (death as a passage)
New Band Aids (until there's a cure)
Old watches & timepieces (It's time for a cure)

Keep in mind that the objects need to fit into a glass test tube of 8"-10" in length.  Other than that, the sky's the limit.  Let me know if you have items for donation, and i'll arrange for pick-up.  Thanks so much for being a part of our community.
