Friday, April 9, 6 - 9 pm
http://i10.cmail3.com/ei/y/BE/413/B65/030758/images/trimpin.gif MOG presents an exclusive screening of Trimpin: The Sound of Invention, http://museumofglass.cmail3.com/t/y/l/ohihhd/kdtyjdkk/d a film created by Peter Esmonde about Trimpin, a renowned artist, inventor, composer, engineer and recipient of the MacArthur Genius Award.
Filmed over two years, this feature-length documentary is an amusing journey through the self-made musical world of an eccentric creative genius. It follows Trimpin as he designs the 60-foot tower of more than 500 automatic electric guitars housed at Experience Music Project; builds an ensemble of huge marimbas that converts real-time earthquake data into music; and collaborates with the Kronos Quartet on an outrageous world premiere featuring toy instruments. Footage of the artist working in the MOG Shop during his 2006 Visiting Artist residency is also included in the film.
Admission is FREE for Museum of Glass members http://museumofglass.cmail3.com/t/y/l/ohihhd/kdtyjdkk/h and $5 for non-members. Following the film, meet Trimpin and purchase autographed limited-edition DVDs and posters during a special reception. More information » http://museumofglass.cmail3.com/t/y/l/ohihhd/kdtyjdkk/k
Seating is limited; reservations can be made by contacting Ashley Taulbee, ataulbee@museumofglass.org or 253.284.4715.
