If it is true that the boreal owl is on the top 5 birds in Ontario to see
then people should make tracks for the Hilliardton Marsh Bird Wetland
Research and Education Center as our Northern Sawwhet owl banding operation
is scaling back we have started banding boreal owls. On Tuesday night under
perfect conditions we banded 26 boreal owls which is the most boreal owls we
have ever caught in a year. The irony is that while I have been at the marsh
every day for the past 2 months I have yet to see one in the wild. Should
you like more information on our boreal owl project or if you would like to
join us please get in touch. We are located 20 km north of NewLiskeard which
is approximately 450 km north of Toronto. Time and space is limited so if
you have an interest let me know sooner than later. All the best in birds.
