I was hoping some of our list members might be able to assist with regards
to a Teleflex Riviera magnetic compass. A large growing bubble on my
flybridge prompted me to remove and take apart this compass, and replace the
'O' ring between glass and bowl. In doing so, all the clear liquid inside
the dome was lost. A local mariner suggested I replace it with
pharmaceutical grade mineral oil which I did. My problem is that the
mineral oil is so viscous that the rose will spin so slowly as to be of
little use. (i.e., the boat can turn a complete circle and the card moves
ten degrees..... ). What was I supposed to put back in the compass, and can
mineral oil be diluted by anything to make the current setup work.
