BTW, here is Peggie's e-mail address if anyone wants to write her
directly. We've really strayed off-topic on this one.

Ms. Hall has made statements in reference to my comments on this forum which
were forewarded to her. Since I cannot find a direct E mail adress I chose
to respond in this forum. Ms Hall has contributed significantly to boaters
knowledge of marine sanitation and is well recognized for this. But the
record must be put straight and I quote from web sites that she apparently
sponsors:
I shall be glad to set the record straight: I do not sponsor ANY
websites; I don't even have a website. I have, however, given my
permission to every sponsor of any legitimate boating boating site who
asks--and there have been many--to include my articles on their
websites. Some have included entire articles, some have only provided
links to other sites that have included entire articles.
From a web site:
"Peggie Hall, of Peal Products (a division of Raritan Engineering) is the
author of "Marine Sanitation: Fact vs. Folklore" "
You don't say which website, but their information is considerably out
of date (which it would not be if I were a sponsor or had any connection
to it). I am not associated with Raritan in any way. I was briefly
associated with them after I sold my own company Peal Products) to them
more than 3 years ago, but I have had no commercial interest,
association, affiliation, or any other connection with Raritan or any
other company, in or out of the marine business, since that time.
It is customary on TWL to identify a commercial connection.
I wouldn't hesitate to do so if one existed. None does.
I have the utmost respect for Ms. Hall and her contributions. I refer TWL
members to one of her excellent web sites:
Les Hall and George van Parys, who own boatered.com, would certainly be
surprised to learn that boatered.com is MY website...I certainly am! At
their invitation, I'm a volunteer forum host, that's all. I'm also the
unpaid volunteer "resident plumber" on the Bayliner Owners Club, and
several sailboat sites. However, I receive -0- compensation from any of
them (the Hunter Owners website DID pick up the check for my dinner last
time we were all the Annapolis sail show...if that counts as
"compensation" so be it), I have no interest, financial or otherwise, in
any of the websites or their sponsors, nor am I a sponsor of
boatered.com or any other website.
You have every right to lobby for a bill
that you want passed. I am not opposed to that . However if you are to post
on TWL, > Please, join the list, state your commercial affiliation and please
learn what the qualifications of those that you criticize.
I believe I've covered the commercial affiliation issue, except to ask:
Raritan, SeaLand, Galley Maid, Head Hunter, Microphor, Groco and several
other mfrs make Type I and/or II MSDs. Have I said anything to indicate
that I have any association with any of those companies? Have I
recommended one over another? Had Mr. Austin not found out of date
information on a website, would there be any reason at all to believe
from my own comments that I have any affiliation whatever with any
company? Mr. Austin asked that I learn the qualification of those you
criticize...I--equally respectfully--ask him to do the same before
making accusations.
As for my criticizing anyone's qualifications, I did not. I only made
the logical assumption that anyone who'd say, "As for 50% of registered
boats being on inland waters--correct--and they either don't have heads
or they use portipotties" could not have any knowledge of inland water
boating...that his experience is limited to the waters he does know.
And as for joining TWL, I have in the past and would again any time I'm
invited to help solve sanitation problems and sort out issues. At any
given time, I'm usually active on several e-mail lists...and then leave
again when the subject is exhausted. However, I was not invited to join
the discussion on TWL, nor have I posted to it. I have only replied to
e-mails and given my permission to someone else to post any or all of
what I have replied--AND my e-mail address. Whatever of my comments he
chooses to post publicly are up to him.
Mr. Austin is welcome to e-mail directly--although if he tries to use
the bellsouth.net address that's still on any websites that have not
updated my information, it'll bounce--if he has anything more to say to
me. If there's anything more that's of any value to the group as a whole
that I can contribute to TWL, I'll be glad to join again long enough to
do so--an offer that will remain open indefinitely. Meanwhile, I've said
all I have to say unless asked.
Peggie Hall
