Maxsea V 10 connecting to Robertson autopilot

I have a Robertson AP200DL Sail Autopilot connected to a 12 yr old Koden GPS
through a datalink plotter and it works ok but recently I decided to upgrade
to Maxsea V 10.  Am now ready to suicide trying to direct connect Computer
USB to Robinson autopilot.  I think i have configured maxsea; added NMEA
output instrument to the correct USB port and set the correct language for the
pilot but no joy.  Would someone/anyone out there have some clues or
instructions about connecting these two.  I have followed the maxsea User
guide to no avail.

Should i connect the GPS to the USB port through a 9 pin serial adapter or can
i wire directly to the USB plug?

Should I wire output to the same port as GPS and sounder input or should I use
a separate USB port for data out of the laptop.  I have tried both with MaxSea
but no luck.
