Oil change, moving oil

In this area where it is common to fry whole turkeys in lots of  peanut oil,
it is easy to find empty 3 gallon plastic containers which work well  for
moving used motor oil. They are translucent, letting you see the level,  they have
a large, about 2", screw on cap into which the portable pump outlet  fits
easily and makes it easy to empty. A handle is molded into the top, and  most
important of all, they can be sealed well before carrying them through the
saloon in the  case of my boat.
This has worked well for me, what I am not happy  with is the dipstick
tube method of draining the oil. My surflow pump  (originally mounted on a 3
gallon bucket)  and tubes did not work  well, even though the oil was about 150
degrees the pump cavitated a lot, got  very hot near the impeller and took
forever to drain the oil.
I admit this is all based on my one and only oil  change, so far, on my
recently acquired Camano, I will give it another try, if  the results are the
same at the next change I will look for an alternate  method.
