To all the mothers out there, Happy Mother’s Day!
I have a question for the group. On eBird the Savannah Sparrow is listed twice. One just as Savanna Sparrow the second as Savanna Sparrow (Savannah). Which is correct for CT? Or are both? I’m aware of Ipswich and Belding’s (not in this area) I want to correctly log these sparrows. Thanks!

Hi Tom,
Excellent question.
Savannah Sparrow (Savannah) refers to the regular Savannah Sparrows you see
year round in CT. The other subspecies on the filter, Savannah Sparrow
(Ipswich) gets flagged right now as they're out of season. Very limited to
a few coastal beaches in winter, and distinctive in plumage. Plain Savannah
Sparrow is for birds unidentified to subspecies form. For any birds you're
seeing now, Savannah Sparrow (Savannah) would be appropriate, but you don't
have to use the subspecies if you don't want to obviously. It's a
preference. Either Savannah Sparrow or Savannah Sparrow (Savannah) are
correct for CT right now.
