I meet interesting people on the water.  A number of years ago (mid 90s) I met Ken Feldman while kayaking a white water river in Western Washington.  Slightly later, I met him again in his work role as an Emergency Room Physician at a children's hospital in Seattle.  He had some very interesting statistics regarding the temperature of hot water, and exposure time to create a very serious burn (adult skin, full thickness--third degree burn).  In 120 degree F water, this takes 10 minutes, 125 only takes 2 minutes, 140 6 seconds, 150 two seconds.  Children burn more easily.  How many of us have diabetes or other conditions that may cause some degree of peripheral neuropathy.  Maybe we should take a look at a possible serious injury source of the hot water temperature in our boats.
