Re: [Talk] Missing Term Lists

I just ran the initialise, and got a series of errors which all look like: "CollectionSpace attempted to create a new term list or term list item which had a non-unique short identifier. New term lists and/or term list items must have unique short identifiers across all term lists: The CollectionSpace administrator needs to change the non-unique short identifier and restart CollectionSpace."

Hi Elayne,

Oof. That sounds massively frustrating.

I'm hoping that you're now really close to getting this working. Thanks for your report re corrections to the docs; we'll have a look and fix any errors you've pointed out.

One quick question: have you already visited the URL that initializes the terms in a new tenant?

https://wiki.collectionspace.org/display/DOC/Initializing+data

In your case, you'd substitute "atcmuseum" for "core", in the first URL shown on that page ...

Thanks, Elayne for this report.

In the wake of that set of error messages, could you now check whether some
(or most) of your term lists now appear?

There's a comment in the code that ingests term lists
https://github.com/collectionspace/application/commit/5dc6e8708cb7845be46bccaa1a5c3eee8aaf95fc#diff-293d6dc4013575e74e370b2eca05b31fR139
that claims that this error may just mean that the creation of one or more
term lists, or items in term lists, that have non-unique identifying names
has been blocked.

And from a quick look there, it appears that CollectionSpace will go on
to create all of the other term lists, and items in those lists, that don't
have that issue ...

If you are seeing term lists created successfully (one way to quickly check

  • select the Administration tab, then Term List Management tab, and click
on the names of several of the term lists at left), we can then work with
you further to help identify the non-unique names.
