Official Counter:        Cindy Isenhoff

Observers:        Chuck Sharbaugh, Dan Lumm, Karen Padbury, Olga Klekner,
Steve Winiarski, Will Weber

Visitors:
The Hawk Festival brought many visitors today...at times the tower was
loaded to maximum capacity on the top level.  I was happy to meet up with
old friends, and made a few new ones.  A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL THE HELP
SPOTTING THE BIRDS TODAY!!

Weather:
Morning haze with total cloud cover.  Northerly winds lasted all day, and
by the 9 o'clock hour the skies cleared and we had very few clouds.  A
beautiful day for the last day of summer, but the sunshine drove the birds
VERY high quite early today.

Raptor Observations:
A great raptor day with 11 species including large numbers of Broad Winged
hawks, Sharp Shinned hawks, and American Kestrels.  We had a unusual number
of Peregrine Falcons today with 9 counted.  Our resident Bald Eagles put on
a day long show for guests, along with the Osprey who has been hanging out
for the last week.

Non-raptor Observations:
Blue Jays and American Gold Finch were on the move today in groups of 20 to
50 birds.  Blue Jays number about 1000 for the day, Gold Finch about 300 -
400.  Also sighted were 2 Caspian Terns, one early, and one in the last
hour of the count.  We also had:  Chimney Swifts, Norther Flicker, Red
Headed Woodpecker, Tree Swallows.
