This is a very long shot but has anyone any ideas why a Trimble Palisade
might have stopped acquiring satellites?
The failure occurred several years ago (IIRC) but I would like to have
one more go at getting it working again.
My unit seems to respond to TSIP commands on port B and gives a list of
the 8 satellites its looking for (which changes from time to time) but
the signal indication is always zero for them all.
It's been powered up for a day or so, before you ask!
It seems to have no ephemeris but I expect that that's just a side
effect of having not worked for a long time.
I have been wondering if a component failure (eg capacitor) might be the
cause but just today it wondered if the 2019 GPS week rollover could be
to blame?
It's running firmware version 7.10 by the way.
Thanks in advance,
Steve, G4WSZ
Hi
First thing I would check is power to the antenna. A Tee connector to
get to the center conductor and a quick probe with a multimeter to
check the voltage should be all it takes. If it’s a DC issue, that should
be pretty easy to fix.

The Trimble Palisade is ”smart” antenna with The receiver built into the antenna. 422 serial, power, 1PPS. There is also a event input, to time stamp an external signal.
Look at the refclock palisade ntpd doc page.
It was later replaced by Accutime, Accutime 2000 and Accutime Gold.
Rollover events usually only puts the receiver off by 1024 weeks (19.6yr), keeping time of day intact.
Some receivers did not like when the PRN32 started being used. Don’t recall if that impacted old Trimble receivers.

Thanks Bjorn,
I have had the Palisade working with NTP for some time before the
problem arose.
I've been able to monitor the S/N values which were good then; however,
no satellites are now seen, the S/N values are all zero, so something
inside the unit has failed (I think).
I hear that a dry joint is a common failure with Palisades.
