Afternoon all,
I have several countertops that need replacing. Both heads and the galley have older style laminate on ply currently. Looking to upgrade all the tops to something more modern. Functionality is prime with aesthetics second. I do love the look the newer boats are using with granite or cultured stone. Want to find something I can install myself to save a few $$ as well.
I have a couple of items I must consider in selection. One is I have a top load reefer in the counter so an ability to finish edges to a taper and also a way to mount a hingeing system (current is plain ole piano hinge) and second: I love integrated back splashes and front slide rail (is it still called a fiddle when it is solid)
I am debating also the beauty of dark (grey/black/brown) when clean over the clean look of lighter. Any thoughts on this from a cleaning/usability perspective would also be appreciated.
Going to the Miami boat show next month so will look at any/all there and especially those that get a recommendation.
Thanks in advance

In an earlier thread we discussed the availability of solid surface
materials to the layman. One member found this site
http://solidsurface.com/ (Much to my surprise)
Maybe it will help you.
