I'm hoping this isn't a violation. I followed the video to this link for the
download:
Download msi file
https://github.com/cabbagecreek/Marlin3DprinterTool/blob/master/Marlin3DprinterTool/InstallMarlin3DprinterTool/bin/Release/Marlin3DprinterTool.msi
The video presents an earlier or different version, while the download link
connects to the correct download for the current version.
The STL association does not happen automatically and has to be performed
from a different program in the folder created during the installation.
The default color for the STL thumbnails appears to be blue, and doesn't
show details very well, but it's certainly superior to the previous
"nothing" available on the 'net. The program also give an option to change
color, but it didn't work for me and/or I have no patience with having to
reboot to implement it. The button for restarting Explorer didn't change the
color either. I can, I suppose, disassociate the connection, change the
color then re-associate the program, once I have more patience.
Thanks for sending the info. Quite a positive development in the STL world.

The key aspect of this thread, in my opinion, is not the viewer, although it
works quite well, it's that the program adjusts windows in such a manner as
to display the STL image in the thumbnail in Windows Explorer/file manager.
If there's any other program out there with that capability, it has escaped
the notice of many 3D printer enthusiasts (until now!)

Exactly, like so:

On Windows 7, I understand W10 has it built in.

I suspect the W10 "built-in" aspect is due to W10 also having a 3D printer
application available or installed at birth. Having now this feature for W7
is a time saver for me.
