Note: The report of a Great Crested Flycatcher at Hammonasset on
Monday generated a lot of interest because of the very real
possibility it was a more exotic alternative.  The bird was seen well
on Tuesday and "there does not seem to be anything to suggest that it
is not a Great Crested Flycatcher."  Oh well.

From Bill Banks:
10/29/13 - New Haven, Lighthouse Point Park -- noon; 3 White Pelicans
moving west together just north of the park.  Also in the course of
the day, 6 Eastern Meadowlarks.

From Ryan MacLean:
10/29/13 - Greenwich, Audubon Greenwich, Quaker Ridge -- A juvenile
Golden Eagle came by over the field around 10:50 AM.  I first spotted
3 WHITE PELICANS around 2:35 over the Audubon Center building to the
east.  They slowly worked their way southwest and were eventually
visible with the naked eye over the center parking lot.  Presumedly
these are the same birds seen at Lighthouse Point Park in New Haven
earlier in the day.

From Annie and Mike Perko:
10/29/13 - Colchester yard -- 4th day in a row a flock of 30 plus
Rusty Blackbirds showed up in our yard. They have been eating dogwood
berries and staying around most of day other than flying up to trees
when cars go down the dead end street.

From Keith MUeller:
10/29/13 - Middlefield, Lyman's Pond -- 2 Northern Pintail.
Meriden, Bishop's Pond -- 8 Northern Shovelers.

From Steve & Charla Spector:
10/29/13 - Milford(?), yard -- 10:00 AM; Snow Bunting in backyard, a
first as a yardbird for us.

From Tina Green:
10/29/13 - Westport, Compo Beach -- White-winged Scoter.

From Ray Belding:
10/29/13 - Torrington, Weigold Rd -- 1 White-crowned Sparrow.

From Frank Gallo:
10/29/13 - Milford, Mondo Ponds -- A young male Eurasian Wigeon was on
the small west pond in the morning.  The bird has a dark rust-colored
head without much of a crown stripe and is molting in gray flanks but
still has quite a bit of rust on the flanks.

From Jerry Connolly:
10/29/13 - Madison, Bauer Park -- A sunset visit yielded 2-3 VESPER
SPARROWS, WHITE-CROWNED SPARROW.

From Matthew Male via Jerry Connolly:
10/28/13 - Madison, Bauer Park -- Blue Grosbeak at Bauer at sunset.

From Mike Warner:
10/28/13 - Wilton, Horseshoe Pond -- 9:50 AM; Two Rusty Blackbirds
were feeding on the mudflats of Horseshoe Pond with its lowered water
level.

From Judy Moore:
10/28/13 - Woodbridge, Woodbridge Community Garden -- 9 AM; one
White-crowned Sparrow (imm.), Brown Thrasher, Swainson's Thrush,
Winter Wren.

From Jim Carr:
10/28/13 - Madison, Hammonasset State Park, west end, farthest field
on right -- 10:45 AM; 100 or so American Pipits.

From Keith MUeller:
10/28/13 - Middlefield, Lyman's Pond -- 2 Northern Pintail.
Meriden, Bishop's Pond -- 5 Northern Shovelers.
Durham, Greenbacher's Pond --  5 smaller Canada Goose subspecies (with
various short and stubby bills), 1 Cackling Goose.

From Paul Carrier:
10/28/13 - Waterbury, train station -- Peregrine Falcon "playing with"
a flock of European Starlings right over I-84.
