All

As I mentioned in prior postings , we are trying to up the frequency
that we post the list , maximizing the number of extensions promoted.

We all know how important this is especially for developers who been
working for years on extensions that make Thunderbird Thunderbird.

We also went back-and-forth on the criteria, especially a discussion on
compatibility,  but at the end of the day  knowing what's most important,

we decided to keep the criteria wider and tighter.  For now we will list
both extensions compatible with the latest Thunderbird (68) as well as

the prior ESR (60 now).  This reflects the fact that there will be
Thunderbird 60 users for quite some time.

I hope everyone finds this a reasonable approach.

The next list will probably be 8-10 extensions long.  Please feel free
to nominate one or more extensions!

Cheers  & Congratulations to the entire team for the release of 68 !!!

I am assuming this decision was arrived at based on display of a
featured list in a browser where such niceties of a version the add-on
works with is displayed.  However in the two locations within
Thunderbird were we offer recommended add-ons the picture is really
quite dire.

In app we have this list recommenced extensions.  Where we again mangle
persona style themes and real functional extensions together and offer a
link to "complete themes"  which we do not offer as recommended even
though they are quite popular on some operating systems and actually
offer the things users want, colour on icons without black glyphs and a
proper themed experience.

Or is it this list that we show the application, where we offer all
sorts of rubbish that ios not relevant and don't say anything about it
being incompatible.

I find it more than disconcerting that a 3 of the 11 displayed on the
first page displayed actually work with the version that is displaying
the list. For some inexplicable reason, Grammar checker is disabled in
app, but nothing else is.

This situation is I feel critical as our built in pages to not include
the "Works with information"  so we are simply leading our users up the
garden path and asking to be slapped around the head for offering stuff
that simply does not work.  I would suggest if you want to compromise in
the manner you apparently have decided, that a version must be added to
the URL so the results returned actually stand a chance of being
relevant to the user of the application.  Until such time that the URL
can be limited to in app display of relevant add-ons we should only
display what works with the release version.  We have apparently not got
our house in order enough to implement this at this time.
