Pistol Creek Park, Middletown, CT 9/21/24. When visiting the Common Gallinule at pistol Creek Park in Middletown, I noted a Canada Goose with a yellow neck collar as did several other birders. I submitted the information, black code H228 on yellow collar to USGS and got the report yesterday. The bird was hatched in 2016 or earlier and was banded June 26, 2017 by Min Huang of the DEEP in Berlin. The park is located on the border of both Berlin and Middletown so it looks like the bird did not go very far. The leg band was not visible as the bird was swimming on the water. I did learn that the goose is a female. You never know what you are going to find out about where your bird has been. Although not the most interesting results, I thought I would share this as I knew others had seen and taken photos of this individual as well.
