Between Sunday and Tuesday we have 16 swimmers taking on 23 miles worth of OWS racing plus a runner in a rare Wednesday night event! And if you are interested in a last minute event, 5 of our club sponsors are offering events on Sunday, Tuesday, and Wednesday! Weekend Workouts: This weekend we have the four usual workout options including two swims and two sponsor-led group runs. • Saturday 8/19, 7:30am-9:30am, Spring Valley YMCA OUTDOOR pool: Uncoached group swim with the SVY Masters Swim Team. Sunday, August 20: • CLUB/SPONSOR EVENT: Steelman Racing's Open Water Swim Classic (Lake Nockamixon, Quakertown, PA): Between athletes and volunteers there will be at least a dozen Gators in the water one way or another! This event features 1, 2, and 3 mile individual distances as well as a 3 mile relay option. We have athletes participating at all 3 individual distances. Taking on the ultimate 3 mile challenge are Sara Dansbury and Cindy Kelecic as they continue their buildup for their September 8 mile "Swim for Alligator Lighthouse" relay plus Ginny Angus as she continues her build-up for the mid-October IRONMAN World Championship in Hawaii and Hannah Ludescher as he she continues to train for IRONMAN California in October! At the 2 mile distance is Don Mack in the wetsuit division! And in the 1 mile race our participants include Whitney Chadwick-Lessar, Elayne Dell, Gleb Epelbaum, Julie Mullaney, and David Stone plus Mike Ahern who will be participating in his first OWS event (just 4 days after his first OWS!)! And handling volunteer responsibilities will be our Gators super volunteer, Kristie Bruno! Look for our club tent when you arrive! Tuesday, August 22: • CLUB/SPONSOR EVENT: French Creek Racing's OWS Race #6 (Norristown/Trooper, PA): Come on out for the finale of the 2023 OWS race series (and use our club discount code)! At least count we have 6 Gators swimming including Hannah Ludescher at the 1 mile distance and Chris Acosta, Kristie Bruno, Whitney Chadwick-Lessar, Carla DelFico, Jennifer Gehret, and David Stone in the 1/2 mile race.
