I was wondering about the process of having volunteer professors/professionals lecture in different topics for adults at a library. The lectures can range from topics in relation to astronomy, agriculture, literature, or health. The aim would be volunteers, but I understand that sometimes there are fees associated as well . . . so researching about budgeting or grants/donations would be a plus for me. In relation to public outreach, how do other libraries bring interest to the community to attend these lectures? What ideas are out there to give patrons options of in-person and online lectures? Another thought I had was lectures would encourage those to continue learning and I understand that it can be intimidating to start the enrollment process at a college or continue educating after a period of time. Getting familiar with a lecture setting would reassure anxious thoughts for those who want to enroll in a class. All comments in relation to this topic would be greatly appreciated. 🙂
